Privacy Policy

This policy applies to Nikmesoft's English test practice app for Android (package name com.nikmesoft.toeic, “the app”). The iPhone and iPad versions of the app are no longer available. The app is published by Nikmesoft Company, Ltd. (“Nikmesoft”, “we”). Questions: [email protected].

The short version

  • There is no account. Your answers, scores, saved words and reminders stay on your device.
  • The app uses Google AdMob for ads (shown only if you haven't bought the full version or a subscription), and Google may collect device information to show and measure them.
  • Purchases are handled by Google Play; we never see your payment details.
  • We do not sell your data.

Information kept on your device

Your test results, progress, saved vocabulary and reminders are stored in the app on your device and are not sent to us. Purchase information is also stored on the device and is handled as described under Purchases. Test content is downloaded from Google Play together with the app. Uninstalling the app deletes this information from the device, but Android may include it in your device backup (for example Google backup) and bring it back when you reinstall the app or restore a backup.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app uses Google AdMob (Google LLC) to show ads. Ads are shown only if you haven't bought the full version or don't have an active subscription, but the app may still request an ad from Google in the background when you have, so the information below may reach Google in either case. To show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address and approximate location derived from it, device model, Android version, language, and how you interact with ads. Notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)

The app can receive notifications through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging. For this, Google assigns the app installation a token, and the app subscribes it to a notification group for free or for premium users, so Google knows which of the two the installation belongs to. The app does not send the token to us. Reminders you set in the app are scheduled on your device.

Purchases

The full version and subscriptions are sold and charged by Google Play. To check a purchase, the app sends a Nikmesoft server the purchase token, product and order identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, your premium status, and basic device information (device model, Android version, app version and your language and region setting). This does not include your name, email address or payment details. We use it only to confirm and keep track of purchases.

Permissions

  • Internet and network state — for ads, purchases, notifications and downloading test content.
  • Storage — on older Android versions, to store the downloaded test content and audio.
  • Google Play billing and licence check — for purchases and to verify the app was installed from Google Play.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

  • Reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your device's Google settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
  • Turn off the app's notifications in Android Settings.
  • Buying the full version or a subscription stops ads from being shown.
  • Email us with any question or request about your data. Purchase records can be identified by your order number.
