Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 3, 2026

This policy explains what information the FamiGuard apps for iPhone and Android (“FamiGuard”, “the app”) collect, why, who it is shared with and the choices you have. FamiGuard is published by Nikmesoft Company, Ltd. (“Nikmesoft”, “we”). If you have a question that this page doesn't answer, write to [email protected].

How FamiGuard works

A parent creates a family account on their own phone (the “parent app”). The parent then pairs each child's phone (the “kid device”) with a one-time code. Once paired, the kid device shares its location and status with the parents of that family only, and family members can chat and send SOS alerts to each other. FamiGuard is for parents and legal guardians, their own children, and adult family members who agree to take part (see Adult family members). It is meant to be installed on a child's phone by, or with the agreement of, the child's parent or legal guardian.

Permissions the app asks for

  • Location (“Always” / “Allow all the time”) on the kid device, so the parent can see where the child is even when the app is closed (see Location in the background).
  • Motion & fitness on an iPhone kid device, for activity, driving reports and fall detection. The Android app asks for no activity permission: it tells walking from driving by the speed of location updates.
  • Microphone, only when you record a voice message or an SOS.
  • Camera and photos, only when you take or choose a picture (for a kid profile or a chat photo).
  • Notifications, for alerts and messages.

You can change these at any time in your phone's settings. Turning location off on a kid device stops location sharing.

Location in the background on the kid device

Once paired, the kid device shares its location even when the app is closed or the screen is off. This is used only for what the parents see in the app: the child's position on the map, alerts when the child arrives at or leaves a place the parent set up, SOS alerts, fall and low-battery alerts, and drive and visit history. On Android, a persistent notification stays on the kid device for as long as location is being shared, so the child can always see that it is on.

To stop it, sign out of kid mode on the kid device (if the parent has set a PIN, it is needed to sign out), remove the kid device in the parent app, or delete the account.

Adult family members

A family can also include adult members, such as grandparents, who agree to take part. An adult member signs in on their own phone with a one-time code. Signing in sends only ordinary device information: the app and operating system versions, the device model and the language.

Until the adult member agrees on the confirmation screen, their phone shares no location, no places, no alerts and no push notification token. After they agree, their family can see their location and battery level, and receives place alerts (arriving at or leaving a place), low-battery alerts and SOS alerts from their phone.

  • Share location. An adult member can turn location sharing off at any time with the Share location switch. Their family then sees that sharing is off. If they press SOS, the SOS alert still sends their location.
  • Signing out. An adult member can sign out at any time; no PIN is needed.
  • No impact alerts. An adult member's phone does not send impact alerts.

If you are an adult member: you can pause location sharing or sign out at any time; this stops collection from your phone. To be removed from the family, ask the family's parent to remove your phone in the app. To have your data deleted, email [email protected] and we will delete it; all of it is also deleted when the parent deletes the family account (except older chat files: see below).

Who can see your information

  • Your family. A kid device's location, status and history are shown only to the parents of the family account it is paired with (apart from the map and address lookups below). An adult member's location, battery and alerts are shown to their family only after they agree, and their location only while their Share location switch is on, except that an SOS alert they send includes their location (see Adult family members). Chat messages are visible to the family members in that conversation.
  • Service providers that run parts of the service, only for that purpose:
    • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, to deliver push notifications (and, in the iPhone app only, Firebase Analytics);
    • Google Play Billing, for purchases in the Android app, and Sign in with Google;
    • Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and push notifications to iPhones);
    • Map images: the Android app loads the map from OpenFreeMap, delivered through Cloudflare. They receive the phone's IP address and the area of the map being viewed, which may be around your child's location, but no account or device identifier. See the OpenFreeMap privacy policy.
    • Addresses: to show a location as an address, the Android app uses the phone's built-in geocoder, which on most Android phones is provided by Google and receives the coordinates being looked up;
    • an email delivery provider, for password-reset emails.
    The Android app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it.

Where your information is stored

Account data, location history, chat messages and media are stored on servers operated by Nikmesoft in Vietnam. Our service providers may process data in other countries (for example the United States). Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active, so that location history and chat history are available to you. When you delete your account, we delete it as described below. Security logs are kept for a short period and then deleted. Copies in our backups are overwritten as the backups rotate.

Notifications and drive history. Notifications (the alerts shown in the app) and drive history (trips and driving reports) are kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically, on the 91st day. When you delete your account they are deleted at once.

Last known location of a kid device. Our server keeps the most recent location of each kid device in its database: only the latest one, replaced by each new update. It is deleted automatically when the kid device has sent no update for 30 days, and at once when you remove the kid device or delete your account. Only the parents of that family, signed in to their account, can read it.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account at any time in the parent app (Account → Account Settings → Delete account) or on the web at nikmesoft.com/apps/famiguard/delete-account/. This permanently deletes the account, its kid devices with their profiles, location, drive and visit history, notifications, chat messages, photos, voice messages and SOS recordings, push notification tokens and sessions, the link to your Google account if you used Sign in with Google, and revokes Sign in with Apple. Removing a device in the parent app stops its sharing and signs it out; its data is deleted when the account is deleted, or when you ask us by email at [email protected].

Chat photos, voice messages and videos sent before November 3, 2026 are not yet removed automatically when an account is deleted; email [email protected] and we will delete them.

Records of Google Play purchases (product, purchase token, order and renewal status) are kept without any link to your account, because we need them to handle renewals, cancellations and refunds that Google reports after the account is gone.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. On iPhone, manage subscriptions in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions; on Android, in the Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.

Children's privacy

A child uses FamiGuard only with their own parent or legal guardian. A child's information (location, date of birth, nickname, chat messages, photos and voice recordings) is collected only after a parent has added the child in the parent app and the child's device has been signed in with the one-time code from the parent app. The child's information is shown only to the parents of that family, and chat messages only to the family members in the conversation.

The parent can see the child's information in the parent app, remove the kid device to stop its sharing, ask us by email to delete its data, or delete the account at any time. For any other request about a child's information, write to [email protected]. We collect only the information needed for the features described above, and we do not show ads to children or share their information for marketing. If you believe a child's information was shared without a parent's agreement, contact us and we will delete it.

Update check

In versions after 1.4.0 on iPhone and after 1.0.2 on Android, when you open the app, it downloads a small configuration file from our website, https://nikmesoft.com/app-config/v1/com.nikmesoft.kidsafe.json, to find out whether a newer version is available or needed. The request sends no personal data: no account, no identifier and nothing about you or how you use the app. The nikmesoft.com website does not log these requests. Like any visit to our website, the request is delivered through Cloudflare, our content delivery network, which handles the connection (including your IP address) only to deliver the file.

Security

Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, connections are encrypted, access to each family's data is checked on every request, and pairing codes expire after a few minutes and can be used once. No system is perfectly secure; if you think your account was accessed without permission, change your password and contact us.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your information, and to object to or restrict some processing. Most of this you can do in the app; for anything else, email [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we will update the date above and tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
