Getting started
How do I add my child's phone?
On your phone, open FamiGuard → Home → tap + to add a kid device. Then choose Generate login code. On your child's phone, install FamiGuard, choose Sign in as child and enter the code. Codes are valid for a few minutes and can be used once.
Which permissions does the child's phone need?
On iPhone: Location set to Always, Motion & Fitness, and Notifications. On Android: Location set to Allow all the time, and Notifications; also let FamiGuard run without battery restrictions. Without “Always” / “Allow all the time”, the location only updates while the app is open.
Location and alerts
The location isn't updating
- Check that the child's phone has internet and location services on, and that FamiGuard's location permission is “Always” (iPhone) or “Allow all the time” (Android).
- Low Power Mode / Battery Saver and very low battery can delay updates.
- Open FamiGuard on the child's phone once after restarting it.
I don't receive notifications
Make sure notifications are allowed for FamiGuard in your phone's settings (iPhone: Settings → Notifications → FamiGuard; Android: Settings → Apps → FamiGuard → Notifications), and that the alert type is switched on in FamiGuard → Notifications → Settings.
How do geofences work?
Create a place (home, school…) with a radius. You get a notification when the child arrives or leaves. Small radiuses can be less reliable in areas with weak GPS.
Account and subscription
I forgot my password
Tap Forgot Password? on the sign-in screen. We'll email you a link to set a new one.
“This email already has a FamiGuard account” when I sign in with Google
An account with that email address was created with a password or with Sign in with Apple. Sign in the way you created it; accounts are never merged automatically.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought them from. iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → FamiGuard. Android: Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → FamiGuard. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
How do I stop my child from signing out?
Set a kid logout PIN: FamiGuard → Notifications → Settings → Kid logout PIN. The child's phone will then ask for the PIN before signing out.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Account → Account Settings → Delete account. Or see Delete your FamiGuard account.
